Another Do Nothing Resolution

Resolution 52-05, Mickey Rosado sponsor
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF CAPE CORAL CITY COUNCIL ACKNOWLEDGING THAT HUMAN TRAFFICKING IS AN INHUMANE AND EVIL VIOLATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS AND ADOPTING A POLICY OF ZERO TOLERANCE FOR TRAFFICKERS.
Well, Murder and Rape are just as inhumane and evil and against the law, as is Human Trafficking against the law. Will we see more redundant resolutions from city council for these as well? How about a Resolution Adopting a Policy of Zero Tolerance for redundant politicians lacking common sense?
UPDATE:Last night council adopted this resolution on a 6-2 vote. Today's News-Press article referred to the resolution as being "toothless."

Is this just another way to get one's name in the newspaper. This is already illegal. Whats next? Will one of you declare that kidnapping is bad? How about bank robbery? Maybe kids having a weapon at school. There is probaly enough things to keep your name in the paper until next election and you won't have to pay the newspaper for the publiticity.

But, back to the human trafficing. What ethnic group has been most active in this? This is sort of like lying about one's education and getting caught and then saying we need background checks.

Maybe it was allowed where Mickey came from. I figured Tim wrote this, since he is our crime fighter. I think we should honor Tim by purchasing a super hero suit for him and presenting it to him. Something along the lines of Capt. Bleeding Heart, or at least a t-shirt that says Did the ciity clerk say it was illegal again?

Just another effort by Dumbo to get his name in the news. Maybe he thinks this will divert the attention of the people in his district away from him giving part of the money (which was not his to give away) to Boyd so they can put nice curbs for his family to look at as they go and come from home. Speaking of which, did anyone notice Boyd correcting the lady from Orchid that said they were all taxpayers in that neighborhood.

Has everyone noticed how our "I'm going to take charge" mayor has now started voting with Boyd, Day, Dumbo , and Jefferies. Just about assures passage of any project our former Mayor turned consultant represents. Must help his chances of getting good contracts. Lets all hope it doesn't start here, but that's how graft gets started in cities with rapidly growing budgets.

Budget meeting finished last wed and by friday people were calling for more sidewalks. Did anybody see these guys that wanted to spend money on streets mention sidewalks. They would rather give our money to charity and take over little leagues.

Who out there thinks as I do that if you head to city hall and can't speak english, take someone with you that can. Dumbo says they as not too lazy to learn english.. Well I thought some were too lazy to go to college so they just made up their degree knowing they would only get a slap on the wrist. And then, another chance to get name in paper saying we need background checks on council members. I think he is in a contest with Day to see how often he can get in newspaper.

This sounds like political grandstanding ... just for the sake of media attention. So it makes sense that the sponsor would be Rosado. Anything he can do to validate himself as a councilman and get attention to further his own aspirations.
Sure it's redundant, but that's Rosado for you.
Just consider the source.

I hear that the Cape Coral City Council is making a resolution stating that the
City of Cape Coral City Council acknowledges that Human Trafficking is inhumane and evil violation of human rights and is adopting a policy of zero tolerance for traffickers.

Am I missing something here? I have always been under the assumption that
Human Trafficking was already a crime and I think that it is redundant for the Cape Coral Council to reaffirm zero tolerance. Everyone knows it is a crime punishable by law....No need for a resolution here.
