Why Would They Do That? See Update 2/22/06.

Dear County Commissioners:
Pictured is an aerial picture of the exit ramp from Veterans eastbound to Del Prado Blvd. The ramp is problematic for those wanting to go southbound on DelPrado Blvd., please see the area defined in the yellow oval. The southbound turn lane can be extended by removing the curbing that juts out into the turn lane located at the center of the highlight oval.
Currently if you were to go to this location you will find that vehicles have gone over the curb to get around vehicles in the staging lanes that are going north on Del Prado, as a result there are large ruts in the sodded area.
This problem should be a fairly simple thing to resolve. Thank you for your attention in this matter.
Up Date (2/22/06) Civic expresses thanks to all involved!
As of today the County removed the curb protusion as Civic originally suggested.
Civic the exit ramp is in the process of redesign that will be completed by the fall of 2006.

Dear Mr.. LePera:
This is to follow up on our phone conversation today. Lee County DOT is moving forward with the design for increasing the right turn storage length and left turn storage length. They are moving forward with design of Alternative A which basically lengthens the turn lanes as much as possible without affecting the existing canal or seawall immediately to the west of this area. The County will be providing the City the consultant's design status and estimated completion date. When this is received, I will relay that information to you. City staff believes it would be best to pursue this option for implementation as soon as possible.
Sincerely, Steve Neff
